You may have heard about an
event a few years ago where the Parisian music hall Olympia was filled with
beds from Ikea to promote the Swedish company’s new line-up of mattresses. A
small group of lucky people were allowed to come and roll around in style while
watching movies on the big screen. A dream come true, if you ask us! Sadly it
was only a one time deal. For some reason, Japanese netizens mistakenly
thought, and spread word, that it was actually a regular theater in Greece.
While that is not, unfortunately, true at all, it turns out there really are theaters
with full beds for your movie watching needs! The Olympia really knows how to
throw a slumber party.
2. Movie Theater in Paris
LIFE OF PI POOL THEATER – A Parisian pool has been transformed into a movie theater where
audience members sit in lifeboats to watch Ang Lee‘s Life of Pi. The
special screenings run until December 9th. Although it looks very cool
and beautiful, you have to wonder if the rocking back and forth in a boat while
watching the movie would make you sick. Also what are you supposed to do if you
have to get popcorn or have to pee? This promotion is similar to what
happened in 2009 where a London pool was converted for a special screening of Titanic. The attendees had to dress in
Victorian clothing. No word if the Life of Pi attendees have to bring a tiger of their own to watch the movie
with.
3. The Bijou Theater, Bridgeport
This restaurant has one of the more unique themes found in Disney World. Modeled after Drive In Theatres, you sit "under the stars" in 50's era cars and watch old clips from science fiction movies while you dine. The movies clips are unintentionally funny and include "Plan 9 From Outer Space", the "Amazing Colossal Man" and other B Movie classics. The majority of cars hold 6 people sitting in three rows of two seats. There are a few tables in the back of the restaurant.
5. Sol Cinema
One of the very last historic movie theaters left in Bridgeport, the Bijou Theater was opened in 1909, originally intended as an opera house, it opened as a movie theater. In 1929, it was renamed Rivoli Theater, and in later years became the Studio Cinema, and the Downtown Family Cinema, which closed in 1996. The seating capacity was for 604.
After laying dormant for many years, the theater was purchased by new owners in 2005, and eventually renovation work began. The Bijou Theater re-opened July 7, 2011. It now operates as a multi-functional venue with 202 seats (94 stadium, 108 cabaret). The dominant focus will be on independent films and cultural art performances, with additional attractions of live music, comedy and theatrical productions.
The original proscenium arch has been retained, framing an intimate stage, equipped with new lighting & sound system. There is an old fashioned style concession stand, a full service bar, and coming soon, full dinner service at the cabaret tables.
4. Sci-fi Dine-in Theater, Disney’s Hollywood StudiosThis restaurant has one of the more unique themes found in Disney World. 5. Sol Cinema

Housed inside of a 1960-era travel trailer, the cinema travels around the South Wales area, screening films with ecological themes to groups of eight at a time - that's all the trailer can hold. Built by artist Paul O'Connor and others at Undercurrents, a British art collective, Sol Cinema is powered entirely by the sun. The theater uses a small LED projector that is powered by lithium ion batteries, which are, in turn, powered by a solar panel on the outside of the trailer. Because the batteries can store power, the theater runs day and night and is constantly visiting events, festivals, and other parties.

Thanks for the addition of Sol Cinema. We love movies so if anyone wants you show their own movie get in touch via http://www.thesolcinema.org
